Despite knowing this, the investigator in Medford City Asylum decides to check the place out for an insurance appraisal instead of writing, "Screw you I'm not going in" on her clipboard, setting up a creepy horror-themed adventure game. Somewhere in Earth’s orbit while the heroic Flyhunters are deep in cryo sleep, The Frog’s cargo of super-important insects from the latest hunt is mysteriously jettisoned into Space, crash-landing back on planet Earth.ĭoes anything good ever happen at an "asylum?" No, it doesn't - that's why they're all called "mental hospitals" now. He works on board the Flyhunter Crew’s legendary spaceship ‘The Frog’ but deep down he longs for an exciting adventure of his own. Zak is a “Zursk”- one of three alien species from Burgarol 3. Meet Zak - a bumbling alien spaceship Janitor and wannabe Flyhunter. You can gamble three bucks (no in-app purchases) to find out if it's bluffing. The game is charming in a ToeJam and Earl kinda way, and though it says it's designed only for the Tegra 4, the Play Store listing actually allows it to be installed on most other current devices. The kooky story behind this simple platformer really isn't important, since it's just an excuse to hop around enormous levels like a backyard or a swamp. ![]()
![]() ![]() Gandalf, Elrond, or Legolas) just sounds like they are reading history from The Lord of the Rings encyclopedia, if such a thing existed. They all feel like your character is a complete moron about the world around them and whomever you are talking to (i.e. Sure, this idea sounds great and the added knowledge and lore is appreciated, but the ways the conversations play out don’t make them feel genuine. Unfortunately, most of these optional talks result in long lengthy explanations about the events going on in The Lord of the Rings universe, or about events that happened in Middle-Earth’s past that seem irrelevant at the time. Sometimes, these chats are cool and share a part of the franchise that you’d only find by reading the novels cover to cover. If you want, you can partake in lengthy chats with these fellows about a variety of topics war, life without war, dragons, a dumb question, another irrelevant question, and so on. ![]() Along your journey you’ll meet famous characters such as Elrond of Rivendell, Gandalf the Grey, Aragorn, and many more. The same feature in which you can walk around, talk to characters, and have deep conversations with them based off of expanding “conversation trees” in Mass Effect, is also found in War in the North. What are these conversations I’m referencing? Well, War in the North shares attributes to several other video games on the market, one of the most notable is the Mass Effect franchise. ![]() Some conversations your characters can have could be classified as “The Lord of the Rings: For Dummies.” If you’ve never experienced this franchise in any way, shape, or form, then these portions might be helpful, but going off the assumption that War in the North isn’t your first step into Middle-Earth these “specific” talks are like hearing the same boring lecture from an adult ten times over. However, for those same fans, there are going to be moments that are redundant, boring, and flat out wasteful. There are some really awesome moments and locations in the game that will make the inner Lord of the Rings fan in you completely “nerd” out. I’ll just go ahead and get this out of the way, if you’re a fan of The Lord of the Rings then this game has plenty to offer you deeper lore, easter eggs, references and appearances of characters that have only appeared previously in the novels. You’ll visit a variety of locations including these snowy mountains. With War in the North that has all changed as it’s the first game (based off/in The Lord of the Rings universe) to use ideas, concepts, and parts of the fiction from both the films and the books! Basically, there was a lot of content for the developers at Snowblind Studios to potentially use in War in the North. (Don’t ask why, it was just a matter of licensing deals and logistics between the production studios and Tolkien enterprises, very boring and complicated). You see, all previous video games based on The Lord of the Rings could only work with parts of the property that had been seen in the films. However, The Lord of the Rings: War in the North has a very unique attribute that none of the other video games can claim to have. The Lord of the Rings has had its chance to shine in the video game medium for a while now with games like The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age, LOTR Conquest, Battle for Middle-Earth and plenty more. Tolkien himself and read through the extremely detailed adventures of Bilbo and his Unexpected Journey, or watched the thrilling trilogy of films from director Peter Jackson, there is no doubt how amazing The Lord of the Rings franchise can be and the incredible journeys the characters go on. The Lord of the Rings franchise is home to one of the richest, interesting, creative, and bloody brutal worlds in all of fiction. ![]() ![]() However, the first train gets paid for its part, allowing you to get a better insight in how much money each train makes. Unlike the green payments, yellow payments are virtual, ie you don't really get the money in your pocket (at the bottom of the screen) until the end of the journey. ![]() This is shown with yellow coloured payments. By changing the unload of the first the first train to a transfer (and 'no loading'), you are telling the system 'I know the cargo must be moved further, but this train should get paid for this part of the journey already'. The remedy to this is the transfer order. The first train gets a negative income, since it is never paid for the cargo it moves (the 2nd train gets it all). The second train picks it up, and unloads at the destination, where it gets paid for the whole distance. Since at that place there is no accepting industry, you don't get paid, and the cargo is dropped at the station. First loads at source, and unloads somewhere in the middle of nowhere. If you build chains (ie a feeder service), it gets a bit more tricky. ![]() Load at the source, and unload at the destination, where you get paid (green money). What is the difference between "unload" and "Transfer" besides transfer credits? is there some situation that would make transfer better than unload or is this command still being worked out?Īs long as you use 1 vehicle to bring cargo from its source to its destination, all is simple. I watched my account history and it went up by $8000 when the second train unloaded so I did not lose any money compared to using the "unload" command, but, it is a little odd. the second train picked up the cargo and dropped it off at the plant and sold it for about $4500. this time the first train dropped off the cargo and left like before, but, there were some yellow numbers that appeared for about $3500. my second train picked it all up and dropped it off at the power plant and gave me about $8000. I set up a simple experiment where I had a station at a coal mine, a station at a power plant and a station in between for the "transfer" point.įirst I used the "unload" command and the first train dropped off all the cargo and left empty just fine. My first question (probably of many) is about the difference between the "Unload" command and the "Transfer" Command. I have read through the FAQs and Wiki pages many times now. I got TTD and Open TTD about a week ago and have been slowly teaching myself all the little details of the game. Hello! I am new to TTD and OpenTTD and of course the forums. ![]() ![]() ![]() Other complementary modules, called extensions, are available to download via the extender (the “catalog” of Burp). Some of the modules are installed by default in the software, which are the essentials modules to run an audit. In layman’s terms, it means we can take a request captured in the Proxy, edit it, and send the same. Intruder allows you to play back messages, with various elements of the message varying with each playback e.g. Repeater allows you to play back a message to the server and amend it before it goes out. However, by its modularity with its extensions, its ergonomics and its active community (who develops new extensions and creates detailed documentation about the modules), Burp has become a reference tool in its category.īurp’s global functioning is designed in a modular way. Burp Suite Repeater allows us to craft and/or relay intercepted requests to a target at will. This tutorial on Burp Suite covers the Repeater and Intruder functionality. The tool ZAP developed by the OWASP or VEGA indeed offer the same functionalities. #BURP SUITE REPEATER SOFTWARE#Thanks to its different functionalities easily configured, it is the Swiss Army knife of a pentester.īurp Suit is not the only software to offer functionalities like vulnerability scanner and web proxy. This tool is the indispensable software to audit a web application, as it meets the first need of an audit professional: to access the exchanges between the browser and the web server, in order to understand the architecture and how the solution to be audited works. ![]() We are talking here below of these three modules and the scanner, which is included in the paid version. Burp Suite has a free version, which includes the proxy, the repeater and the intruder (in a limited way). What is beautiful about Makey Makeys? The product generated is the experience for both the inventor and consumer. In Art Lab sessions, we focus on the experience rather than a product. What matters to me is not addressing an initiative or an aesthetically pleasing product, but the way students are connecting information independently and collaboratively while constructing and revising. I leave it to my students to make the connections with what they’ve done in their other classes and learning experiences, both from the past and in the future. When we talk about building a wearable circuit that comfortably plugs into the computer and produces programmed sound while giving visual cues to consumers on where to touch, we seamlessly bounce between content areas. There is not a single innovator in the field that thinks, “I wonder how much of my work was science, art, engineering, or math… Does the fact that I typed my proposal mean I included technology?”Īs an art teacher and a maker, it’s not about how much art goes into the project because I see STEAM as a unit of workable concepts. If you want to generate meaningful STEAM experiences for your students, you must stop seeing them as separate subjects of study. Does it truly matter if you can touch 2-5 subjects within your projects? Does that make more effective learning? In my opinion, no. A lot of “STEAM education” focuses on one subject area and touches base with another’s concepts. And Art integration key points will be reviewed with each project below.Īs you are probably aware of the country’s STEM/STEAM early-stage initiative, many attempts presently fall short of authentic integration, innovation, and investigation (my favorite “I” words). Math can be included based on the intention and use of the Makeys, but is not regularly included with my projects. Soundplant makey makey series#A major factor of projects with the Makey is engineering, as you have to construct multiple functional open circuits while creating consistency, visual organization, repetitive reliable use, avoid unexpected series and parallel circuits (conductive materials touching each other), and constantly revise wiring plans. You are working with a computer and possibly using Game Maker, Virtual Pianos, or Keystroke Software, so technology is present. So how can this be used in STEAM education? The explorations in electricity and circuitry automatically bring science to the table. Why? Because humans and bananas are CONDUCTIVE and can close a circuit. If I then attach a banana to the SPACE with an alligator clip and physically touch the BANANA and EARTH, the computer reads it as an additional keyboard pressing SPACE BAR. If I touch the EARTH and SPACE, the computer reads it as an additional keyboard pressing SPACE BAR. Soundplant makey makey software#It does not require software because the computer believes it to be a keyboard when plugged into the USB, which also powers the board. Basically, a Makey Makey is a preprogrammed augmented keyboard that uses simple circuits for key strokes. I am going to share how these work and what questions we have the students investigate, but you should watch this brief video if you have never heard of a Makey Makey. We use Makey Makeys (MIT Media Lab) for each of these projects. ![]() I have plans to include these projects in my Friday STEAM Art Lab sessions with my K-6 students. February - March 2014.This summer, I worked with Haley Gravis for a Smithsonian Sound and Sculpture Jam class that meshed sound, touch-based interactions, and art making. In the more archaic quest to explore consciousness, humans developed ways to shift their states of consciousness by employing various techniques and practices. No wonder people have been investigating consciousness-and ways to shift it-for millennia. We are in a constant dance of experience depending on our state. We feel a sense of effortlessness and flow and receive understandings and insights, feeling the warmth of compassion toward all of life. At other times, we find ourselves feeling open and loving, connecting easily with other people, animals, plants, and our natural environment. ![]() We might feel isolated from other people, even those close to us. Sometimes we feel tight in our bodies, mentally contracted, unable to connect with others or even ourselves. Most often, we each feel contentedly separate, as though we are individual organisms moving through space, alternating between comfort, discomfort, or boredom depending on whether we feel attraction, aversion, or indifference in the moment. There is a vast spectrum of state-specific experiences available to our consciousness. Everything that we talk about, everything that we regard as existing, postulates consciousness.” I regard matter as derivative from consciousness. Perhaps surprisingly, the physicist Max Planck also held this belief in some form, famously saying: “I regard consciousness as fundamental. Eastern traditions propose that consciousness arises from an empty yet cognizant field of awareness that is the source of all phenomena. In another view, the brain and nervous system serve as organic antennae, picking up information like a radio receiver as we move through an ocean of consciousness. This perspective views our consciousness as a result of chemicals and electrical impulses responding to internal and external influences. Many contemporary philosophers and scientists propose that conscious- ness arises from the brain, beginning at some point in utero and ending at death. Yet, despite centuries of speculation and investigation into the origins and nature of consciousness, this most intimate basis of our being remains elusive to modern science. There is evidence that humans have been exploring consciousness for thousands of years. ![]() Meanwhile, for as long as we have been exploring our external world, we have pursued the equally fascinating realms of our inner world. We have discovered and studied animals, plants, fungi, and minerals. Throughout our evolution we have developed numerous civilizations, cultures, languages, weapons, and foods. Over many millennia, humans have explored the vast reaches of our planet: its deserts, oceans, mountain ranges, and forests. Like all explorers, we are drawn to discover what’s out there without knowing yet if we have the courage to face it. ![]() ![]() This new game introduces us to seven playable factions: In that sense, Total War: Warhammer brings us to the Eastern side of the great continent, where isolated human nations battle against the forces of Chaos marauding from the Northern wastes. TOTAL WAR WARHAMMER III FACTIONS FULLBuilding on the Total War: Warhammer UniverseĪlthough they have numbers behind the titles, the games in the Total War: Warhammer series are more like massive expansions than full sequels, with each expanding on the lands, mechanics, and playable factions in the game to create an even larger, more expansive world. With this in mind, the forces of Grand Cathay do provide a unique trading option that is meant to reflect the Silk Road of the real world, which provides an excellent source of income. While other Total War Games focus more on diplomacy, trade routes, and politicking, those aspects have been toned down in the Old World in favor of a more combat-heavy approach – a better fit for the setting. These vary by faction – the armies of Grand Cathay must build a unified force to invade chaos to save a family member, while the forces of Chaos Undivided are instead focused on the murder of the Bear God. In Total War Warhammer, each faction starts with its own capital city and control of one province of the map, plus a goal that determines what that faction must do to win their campaign. So What’s So Great About the Total War Games?Īt their core, the Total War games focus on empire building, typically through conquest, but diplomacy is also an option. I’ve invested hundreds of hours into the series already and was psyched to tackle the new campaign and playable races.īefore we dive in, I’d like to thank Creative Assembly for providing me with access to a preview build of the game for review purposes. Platform: PC | Release Date: February 17, 2022Īs a massive fan of the Total War series (something I pointed out in my review of the first two Total War: Warhammer games), I was incredibly excited when Creative Assembly asked me to review the upcoming third game for Goonhammer. ![]() ![]() Adobe prelude cc pro#Integrate into virtually any workflow - Connect directly to existing media asset management systems and workflows with Prelude, an open platform that supports customized integration with third-party technologies.* Create custom markers to capture data specific to your production and view it in Adobe Premiere® Pro software.
